FIRST CHAKRA GROUNDING:

YOU GET WHAT YOU NEED WHEN YOU NEED IT.

The first chakra is located at the base of our spine where a bunch of ganglia (nerve endings) branch out in four directions like the petals on a lotus.  Four is the number for foundation and stability, like the four directions on a map.  Think of the root chakra as the source of our connection with the physical world.  It may not come as a surprise that the elephant is a symbol for this grounded energy.  The earth is the element of the first chakra and demonstrates that foundations tend to shift and resettle in response to life’s demands.  There are countless symbols in our life that represent activities in the first chakra: feet or leg issues, flat tire, foundation problems with our home, intense desire to be in nature or to work with the soil.

The first chakra deals with foundation and  the way in which we are sourced.  It can be compared to the roots of a tree or the family roots that shape our expectations and attitudes. Here we explore the differences between attachment and connection.  The small self (the ego), with its limited experience and understanding, tries to hold on to a feeling, a job, a relationship, an object of desire, afraid to let go of what it considers to be security.  The expanded self understands that we are directly connected with source no matter what changes are sweeping through our lives.
