The Chakra System

PAINTING SACRED WISDOM – THE CHAKRA SYSTEM

Chakras represent a map of our energy system.  In our bodies seven chakras channel energy for specific purposes.  They organize and support the life functions of survival, creativity, personal power, love, communication, insight, and connection with the sacred.

1. GROUNDING:  you get what you need when you need it.
The first chakra deals with foundation and the way in which we are sourced.  It can be compared to the roots of a tree or the family roots that shape our expectations and attitudes.

2. ADAPTING:  it is better to flow than to resist.
The second chakra is our creative center including sexuality and sensuality.  In dealing with creativity, flexibility is far more effective than rigidity.

3. EMPOWERMENT:  it is better to share your power to shed light and understanding than to use it to overpower others.  Self esteem and the use of power is the theme of the third chakra.

4.  ACCEPTANCE: wholeheartedness requires the courage to embrace life and everyone in it without judgment. The heart  (fourth chakra) is the balance point between the physical world with the issues of survival, creativity, and power and the non-physical realm of will, thought, and divine perspective.

 5.  WILL: the words we speak hold tremendous power.
The throat is the center for the fifth chakra where the focus becomes personal expression, the opportunity “to be heard”.

6.  PERSPECTIVE:  how we view an experience determines its impact on us.
The sixth chakra handles the capacities of our sixth sense, intuiting or perceiving things in a non-ordinary way.  When we work with the energy of the sixth chakra, we are expanding our perspective to include the unseen as well as the seen.

7.  UNDERSTANDING: consciousness is crowned with a sense of unity.
“Beyond the idea of right doing and wrong doing is a field.  I’ll meet you there.”  With expanded consciousness we come to realize that everything is connected.
